Stuck inside?? 15 Kids activities to beat the cabin fever!

I spent the first 21 years of my life in Indiana.I must admit, I am a little jealous of those of you hunkered down enjoying some good old fashioned snow days. {though if it were actually happening to me, I would probably be complaining!}
I remember a time in high school just after Christmas break we had a week straight of school closures, not because the snow was falling but because it was so darn cold that the buses wouldn't start!I had two good friends and we bounced between house to house having one long extended slumber party.Ah, those were the days!I saw Facebook post after Facebook post from Midwest friends caught in this weather experiencing cabin fever so I thought I would share with you a few things I have pinned on my pinterest kids activities board that just may help beat the boredom.

Blow an ice bubbleNow I know this is no weather to be playing in, but open up your sliding glass door for two seconds and blow a bubble.  Catch the bubble on your wand and watch it freeze turning into a cool crystal ball before it pops.Nerf target practiceIf you have some nerf guns, spend some time setting up some target practice for the kids.They will stay busy for hours!Race Pom PomsGrab some masking tape or blue painters tape and lay down a track.Take a pom pom ball or cotton ball and use a straw to blow your ball to the end of the track.Make a car cityUse boxes from your recycle bin and tape to create a city with cars, trucks and trains that you already have at home.Masking tape gamesWhile you have the masking tape out, this site has a long list of indoor games you can play from bulls eye bowling to tic tac toe.Make a ball mazeTrash pick up been cancelled?  Make a ball maze out of an old box and paper towel tubes.Cardboard slideFor those of you who did a LOT of on-line shopping for Christmas and haven't had trash pick up in awhile, this indoor cardboard slide would be a ton of fun!Make dinosaur eggsRaid your garden stash and use dirt, sand, flour and water to hide plastic animals you have around the house.Once the eggs are dry kids can chip away and find their animals.Make cloud doughPretend your toes are in the sand at some tropical resort and enjoy playing in the "sand".I made this last summer and the kids stayed busy for hours!Play balloon ping pongYou need some tongue depressors, paper plates and a balloon and your kids will be burning off energy in no time!Make snow ice creamMy guess is you have more than enough snow to spare, so why not whip up some snow ice cream?
Make PlaydohThere are endless things to do and create with playdoh.  Make your own in different colors and add some glitter to make it awesome!
Hammer golf tees into StyrofoamWhen my kids were little, we used to work on their fine motor skills by hammering golf tees into Styrofoam.You can also use an old egg carton.Kids can balance marbles on top of the tees or write numbers and letters to make educational activities.Make a fortMy kids love nothing more than dragging out every blanket, sheet and pillow we have and crafting themselves a fort.  We may not be able to walk around, but man are they happy to create and then sleep in their fort.Make a sponge towerCut up sponges into rectangles and let your kids stack them.When they are done stacking, bring some snow inside to the bathtub or sink and as the snow melts, the kids can play and create with their sponges.Hang in there!This winter freeze won't last forever.You are making memories, enjoy them!Want to share any tips that have helped your kids stay busy and beat the boredom while trapped inside?
