Garage Sale Finds Friday-the one where I steal furniture...sort of.

Welcome back to another week of garage sale finds Friday, where I share with you my favorite garage sale finds from the week.

This week, I did some thrifty redecorating.  I have the hardest time decorating because I put these imaginary budget constraints on myself and unless I can find something at a garage sale, usually nothing fits in that budget.

I've spent the past nine months thinking about a neutral chair for our living room, but I haven't been able to find one.  I really felt like something needed to flank the fireplace. Well, I finally found something.  And you won't believe how much I paid for the corner room redo!

I don't normally do the whole garage sale drive by.  You know, the one where people slow down {and maybe even stop} as they access if they want to stop at the sale or not.  I actually think it's kind of rude, and really, the times where I think a garage sale looks like I won't find anything at it, I usually do.

Well, it had been a long morning of garage saling.  I was getting tired and needed to head home, and I ended up in a neighborhood that for all intents and purposes, is kind of ghetto. The chain link fence out front was covered in clothing that looked like it was worn by P Diddy and there looked like nothing of value. I almost did a garage sale drive by.

I was wrong. I am so glad I stopped because out of the corner of my eye, I peeked this cream colored armchair. I checked it out, looking for rips and tears and found nothing. I took off the seat cushion and saw that it was made by Basset, a fairly reputable brand.  The arms were a little stained but it didn't look like anything I couldn't get out with a little elbow grease.

I asked what the price was and was shocked that she only wanted {wait for it...} $5 for the chair. I couldn't pass it up at that price. It was pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Earlier in the day I had found this gold corner reading lamp for $1 and last year, I had found this brown tweed blanket, also for $1. The pillow was something I had for our couch that I picked up at Home Goods bringing my corner room redo to a whopping $7 grand total!

It's the perfect spot to do some reading. I'm pretty proud of myself and my finds this week.
Have you ever gotten a steal of a deal on furniture? I want to hear about it!
