Summer is such a fun time of year when all of the flowers are in bloom and the grass is green and the sun is out. I love all of those things! Which is why it's easy for me to forget that in just a few short months the grey skies will be back, and the days will be short. There is one thing that never fades or changes and that is the word of the Lord. Can I get an amen?!

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Sunday, March 22, 2015I have been traveling for days. I left Seattle on Friday afternoon and I am just now touching the ground in Lusaka, Zambia. Africa is a long way away from home! This song by Hillsong has been on repeat in my head for days.
I just love these lyrics and the truth. I'm crossing physical borders and entering into a foreign land, but so often I place borders on myself. I'm on a journalists trip with people who are real actual writers. People who get paid to write for magazines and newspapers. People who have deadlines and editors. I'm just a mom who decided to write a blog because her craft projects and ramblings were taking over the space where I was sharing family photos. I have complete faith in knowing that I am here, in Zambia with this group of people for a reason, though I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I placed the border around myself that felt like I wasn't good enough to be a part of this experience with these people, representing World Vision. There is nothing short of God's hand on this trip and the details of it and I am trusting that I can go deeper and further than I could have ever dreamed of wandering, in a land that is filled with people who have stories that break the heart of God every day.

March free printable memory verse
Monday, March 2, 2015It's hard to believe that we are several months into this new year. Every month I have been sharing with you a free printable memory verse that our family is working on. This month, it's Psalm 61:2.
This verse is a great reminder for those times when we get overwhelmed. When things are not going our way or when our hearts are heavy. The only place to look is up, to the rock, our God, who is far higher and who cares deeply for us.
This printable is for personal use only. Simply right click, save and print. Feel free to pin this image on Pinterest as well and be an encouragement.
I also wanted to share with you some other great free printable memory verses that I found from Oleander and Palm. They are fabulously designed art pieces. Go check them out.

January memory verse free printable
Monday, January 5, 2015It's a new year.
A fresh start.
A chance to reflect on the past year and look forward into the new year.
Sometimes this looking back and moving forward can stir up mixed emotions.
If I can be honest with you, I am not quite sure how this year will be able to even compare with last year. I had amazing life changing experiences I'm not sure anything in the coming year will even be able to compare. I'm going into this near year already comparing it to the last knowing that it already pales in comparison.
This coming year is a big year for our oldest son. He is a junior in high school and we have started looking into what his future holds for him. There are a lot of changes and a lot of circumstances in those changes that can produce worry and apprehension {have you even looked at how much college tuition is these days!!}.
Our pastor preached on this verse during advent and it's stuck with me as a constant reminder of peace. I hope that as you enter into the new year you can experience that peace that only God can bring into your life.

Free printable! September memory verse
Tuesday, September 9, 2014Two years ago, it was one of our family goals to spend each month memorizing scripture.
I find a verse, whip up a fun little print in picmonkey and print it off.
The kids have one in each of their rooms and on their bathroom mirror.
At the end of the month, if each of the kids has the verse memorized, we do something fun as a family.
Like Menchie's for fro yo, or Cold Stone for ice cream.
Yeah, pretty much anything dealing with food.
Cuz that's what you do when you memorize God's word. You go out and eat ice cream.
Pretty sure that's a commandment or something.
Anyway...
With all things school related we sort of start losing steam towards the end of the year.
The first year, we fizzed out in March,
last year we fizzed out in February.
Here's hoping we can make it through at least May this year!
As a church we have a focus on discipleship.
We want to make disciples that make disciples, so this verse that was shared as part of the sermon last week fits in perfectly.
If you would like to join us in memorizing scripture,
simply right click on the image, save it and print it off.
But please, only use these prints for personal use only.
