Delicious Summer Frozen Treats

Nothing says summer like hot days and sharing frozen treats with friends. Heck, I like cold treats all year round. Ice cream is probably one of my favorite food groups. Today, I have a few frozen treats that you can enjoy on those hot summer days. Make a few different recipes, try something new and let me know what you think. And if you need a taste tester, I'm happy to help you out!

Cinnamon Roll Ice Cream Sandwiches - Baker by Nature Enjoy the cinnamon sugar taste of cinnamon rolls in a frozen ice cream sandwich, fantastic for summer.

No Churn Cake Batter Ice Cream | Life Made Sweeter With a funfetti cake batter taste, this homemade ice cream is no churn, which means no ice cream machine is needed. Despite that, it still has a creamy taste, and only requires four ingredients! Topped with sprinkles, it is kid-friendly and perfect for any occasion.

Pistachio Gelato - Bless This Mess Pistachio gelato is an elegant frozen treat with an upper-class feel. It only has six basic household ingredients, and makes 6 servings.

Snickers Ice Cream Sandwich Cake - Three Kids And A Fish Hot fudge combines with chunky Snickers bars and a fluffy homemade whipped cream for this Snickers homemade ice cream sandwich cake.

Chunky Monkey Popsicles - Glitter "N" Spice Bananas mix with a chunky chocolate and peanut butter. With a mix of healthy and sweet, these are mom approved and kid approved!

No-Bake Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches - In Katrina's Kitchen Cookie dough ice cream is always a great treat! This recipe is no-bake, which means no heating up your house on those hot days!

3 Ingredient No-Churn Whole Lemon Ice Cream | Kirbie's Cravings With only three simple ingredients, no ice cream machine is needed for this lemon ice cream.

Nutella Fudge Pops - Chocolate Covered Katie Enjoy Nutella popsicles with this simple homemade recipe!

Homemade Watermelon Slush - Say Yes Enjoy sweet, ripe, watermelon in this frozen drink slushie. As an extra bonus, it doesn't take long to make, and is ready within minutes!

Brownie Ice Cream Sandwiches - Keepin' It Kind Fulfill your sweet tooth with this mixture of creamy ice cream, sandwiched between yummy homemade brownies!

Frozen Strawberry Lemonade - As Easy As Apple Pie This fresh, frozen, and tart drink has over 100,000 repins! It's a great way to cool off on a hot day.

If you need to find a freezer pop mold, I have one similar to this that we love. If I make too much smoothie, we always fill up our molds with the leftovers and freeze them for a treat another day. You don't have to be fancy. It can be as simple as freezing fruit juice too. You will save a ton of money and it's a much healthier alternative to high sugar frozen treats from the store.

I also am ordering some of these to make our own ice pops this summer. I'm thinking you could even make some "adult" ice pops in these.

Whatever you try, just try to stay cool! Happy summer!

I don't know if this is a little known fact about me or not, but I love a good potluck. Like love it love it. I don't know if it's because I grew up going to a church that had potlucks once a month or if it's because I like to try as many new foods as I can at once, but if I hear potluck, you have my RSVP.

Memorial day is just around the corner and if the weather is right, that brings with it the first summer BBQ of the season. Which also brings the opening day of potluck season. Woohoo!

Best of Holy Craft 2015 a year in review

I can't believe how quickly this year came in and now it's nearly over! I've been doing this Holy Craft year in reviews since I started my blog back in 2010. It's hard to believe that I'm going on six years of blogging! That's a lot of projects a lot of random thoughts and a lot of garage sales!  In case you missed it, you can find the best of year in reviews here:
2014
2013
2012
2011
2010
This is always one of my favorite posts all year because it's fun to look back at the projects that I worked on this year. Won't you take a look back on 2015 with me and see some of those projects?
I made my first video tutorial {it also happened to be my last!} and showed you how I created this heat transfer vinyl LOVE sweatshirt from a $1 garage sale sweatshirt. I still love wearing it today.

In case a new Silhouette machine made it under your tree, and you want to try your hand at heat transfer vinyl, you can follow my tutorial on how to cut {and use} heat transfer vinyl like a pro.

When I started writing Holy Craft, I was hoping to use my blog as an outlet for my long days as a stay at home mom of three littles. Now those littles aren't so little anymore, and this blog offered me a really amazing opportunity to travel with several journalists on a media relations trip to Zambia, Africa. After my first trip to Africa in August 2014, my heart burst for the people of that continent. I have been given the unique opportunity to share the stories of those people who I met and who have changed my life forever. You can find links to all of those posts from my most recent trip here.

I always knew I was a bit of a wanderlust, but parenthood has kept me from traveling excessively. Thankfully, my kids are getting older and they are much easier to travel with. I made this zippered travel bag with some great quotes on them for next to nothing.

I haven't strayed away from my love of upcycling and you can find project after project of worn or boring items I have taken from blah to awesome.  This painted bowl is one of my favorites from the year.

Apparently, my love for metallic runs deep and I also upcycled this $10 secretary desk with some silver paint.

I also gave this Adirondack chair that I had had for years a little refresh with a new coat of paint and my favorite paint sprayer.

My daughter had a tie dye party with her friends and we refashioned the t-shirts six different ways. I had no idea it would be quite so popular on Pinterest, but you should see the shirts and how they were upcycled yourself.

I jumped on the adult coloring page bandwagon {or came out of the closet...whatever}, and put together a little round up of free printable coloring pages you can use. Go ahead and bust out those markers!

It's never too early to start thinking about teacher appreciation. This pencil vase was so easy to make but it looked like a million bucks!

I wrote this as a sponsored post, and I really can't tell you enough that while I love the opportunity to make money for the long long hours that I put into writing this blog, I really do only accept posts for things that I love. This chicken burrito bowl recipe is a family favorite that has made it into our dinner rotation.

I participated in a few craft challenges this year. One of my favorites was this one from Wayfair where I took boring cutting boards and made them into something that would wow in the kitchen.

I live by the beach, but not by the kind of beaches that have shells. They are mostly lined with driftwood. So I created a few projects with driftwood this year. This succulent planter is probably my favorite.

I didn't do as many sewing projects as I have done in the past, but the one that I did sew took the cake! I love this infinity scarf with snaps and wear mine quite often. You can find the full tutorial here. Make one and we can be twinsies.

I made this fall grass wreath that was inspired by the African Juju hat trend. If I make it back to Africa, that's one of the things that's top on my list to find. In the meantime, I love my wreath.

I also offered quite a few free printables this year. This thankful chain printable is probably my favorite one.

Followed closely behind by these free K cup printables.

I also brought on a fun contributor this year. Her name is Kate and she has provided us with some great recipes like this green bean bacon side dish.

I also got to talk about things that were near and dear to my heart and share a little bit about consumerism versus compassion and what that looks like. It pretty much made my month when Patricia Heaton retweeted my post on this. I super love The Middle!

And of course, I finished off the year sharing six days of handmade ornaments. You can find links to all six tutorials here.

I know there is so much more to share, and I hope you have read along with me through this year. If you are new here, welcome. I'm happy to have you.

I started a newsletter this year so that you can subscribe and get all the new content delivered right to your inbox.  You can find me on instagram, twitter, Facebook and Pinterest too.  I'm looking forward to this new year and new projects as well as new transitions as we prepare to launch our oldest son off to college. Bear with me, it's going to be a tough one!

20 Teacher appreciation gifts you can make today!

I don't know about you, but teacher appreciation week sneaks right up on me every.single.year.
I sort of work best at the last minute, so I put together a list of 20 teacher appreciation gifts that you can make TODAY! Some of the ideas may require a quick trip to the store, but all of them can be made and packaged in under an hour.
1. My daughter is obsessed with EOS lip balm.  I got my first EOS this past weekend and I can see why! This adorable printable from wine and glue will take you no time at all to put together. It's even available in a silhouette print and cut file if you have one or download it as a normal PDF.

2. There is also this really cute EOS printable from the Country Chic Cottage.

3. Or this butterfly shaped one from The Dating Divas.

4. Heck, while you are at it, buy the Costco multi pack and make some for the whole staff! Thanks to I Should be Mopping the Floor for making sure we didn't leave anyone out!

5. I know when I substitute teach my painted fingernails get noticed a lot when I use the overhead projector.  Why not treat the teacher to some toe-tally awesome nail polish for her fingers  {or feet}? This free printable is from eighteen25 and can even be customized for Mother's day too.

6. This next one isn't a free printable, but an idea of something that you could easily put together with items that you have on hand and with a quick trip to the hardware store to get a succulent and a terra cotta jar. Succulents are hot right now. Any teacher would love to have these easy to maintain plant.
Thanks for the idea Life Made Lovely!

7. I know it's hard to believe for some students, but teachers have a life outside of school.  This popular teacher tag would be great to add to a redbox rental or Netflix subscription or it could be on the top of a bag of popcorn.  The possibilities are endless! Thanks to Digi Scrapping Queen via Keeping My Cents for this one.

8. It's nearing the end of the year and believe it or not those 23 dozen sharpened pencils you sent in with your child at the beginning of school are starting to run low. Part of what I do as a sub is sharpen pencils. The Ticonderoga brand is by far superior and would make any teacher happy to find a cup full of them. Everyday Me even added a little flag to the cup, but you could add your own sentiment...

9.  like these free printables from Lisa Storms.  Instead of pencils, you can fill your cup with ice tea and lemonade.  Trust me, these are fun for teachers to have on hand for one of those days when they need a pick me up.

10. Let's be honest, there are a lot of germs in the classroom. Why not make it fun for your teacher to wash her hands.  Thanks to eighteen25 for these printables.

11. One of the first things I think of when I think of teachers is chalkboards. Why not make a fun mason jar with chalkboard paint. Fill the jar with sharpies, or pencils or flowers for a pretty sweet gift.  Thanks Blue i Style for the tutorial.

12. Who doesn't love ice cream? With warmer weather coming, any teacher would love this ice cream gift card printable from I Heart Naptime.

13. While we are talking about gift cards, this one from Target is pretty awesome.  Because who doesn't love Target? You can find it on Landeelu.

14. Or you can download this free printable and pair it with an Apple gift card from My Sister's Suitcase via Everything Etsy.

15. It's as simple as grabbing a kit kat in the check out line. Eighteen25 does it again!

16. While you are at the grocery store, you can pick up some Simply orange juice and print off the tag that The Fickle Pickle created.

17. You don't have to get all fancy like Skip to my Lou did and make paper strawberries {though it's awesome if you do!}.  You can grab a berry box like this and add candy or treats you know your teacher would like.

18.  If you have a good relationship with you child's teacher, you can head in after school and slip this to her. I probably wouldn't let me kiddo bring it to class though. This printable label from Soho Sonnet is bound to get a laugh.

19. This handmade fabric key chains won't take you long and they come with a free printable and tutorial from A Girl and a Glue Gun.

20.  These free printables from Sweet Metal Moments can be printed up quickly and contain a sweet {inexpensive} gift for your teacher.

BONUS!

This free printable donut tag from Happiness is Homemade would be a great treat to bring in to the teachers lounge for everyone to enjoy.
I hope you have gotten an idea or two to make for your kiddos teachers next week during teacher appreciation week.  A sweet handwritten note is always welcome too. Teachers are the best! Make sure they feel appreciated!
