I have really enjoyed the One Room Challenge by Calling it Home.
I've had 6 weeks to transform my son's room into a vintage airplane themed space for him to enjoy.
week 1
When I started his room looked like this:
Now it looks like this:
and this:
This week my husband helped me by making this mount for a propeller that I got from my father in law.
Who wouldn't love having a prop that spins on your wall?!
I thought I would be totally fine if I could just put the propeller on the wall,
but my engineer husband wanted to go one step further and he designed and built this mount that allows the propeller to spin.
I don't know how, he just did.
It looks pretty awesome doesn't it?!
The past six weeks have been a great motivator for my youngest son to keep his room clean,
organize and purge. Look how clean his closet is?
I haven't shown this wall of his room, so I wanted to make sure I included it in the finale.
The pallet wood bookshelf is probably my favorite project from the room.
Actually, probably my favorite project ever.
I've been able to incorporate some pretty cool details, that really haven't cost too much.
The most expensive part of the whole room has been the purchase of the striped rug.
I paid $75 for it.
I think it was money well spent because it ties the whole room together.
This is the glimpse I get when I am walking down the hall.
I wanted to make sure I showed you some side to side comparisons.
Most of the {garage sale} furniture hasn't changed, it just got a coat of paint.
I didn't plan on keeping the US map on this side of the room, but Owen really liked it.
And while the tall dresser didn't move, I think the addition of the other items on this wall really help pull together the theme and give the details that Owen was looking for.
