Planning our 15 year anniversary trip

Hard to believe, but 14 years ago today, I said "I do" to my best friend.
Not to sound cliche, but each year truly does get better and I am thankful to spend my life with the man of my dreams.

We have fun with each other and we both love to travel and see the world.
And by world, I mean, at an all inclusive resort with a cold drink in hand in a reclined lounge chair.

With three kids, we don't get away often by ourselves, but when we do, we really enjoy one another's company.  So with over a year to plan, and my parents in place to watch the kids while we are gone, I have started researching where we will go for our 15th wedding anniversary in 2013.

Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize
Just a 2 hour flight from Miami nestled in the Maya Mountains the Blancaneaux Lodge has only 20 rooms in the entire resort.

Tahiti Intercontinental resort
The overwater bungalows are quite impressive

ninbra: Suluban beach, Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia. - simplicity makes difference

Etali Safari Lodge Madikwe
I would be happy to share my pool water with an elephant!

Closest to home

Private beach?  Yes please!

Not quite sure if you can sense a theme, but I like white sandy beaches and clear blue water.
Now to narrow it down.
A girl can dream can't she?!
Any suggestions for a 15 year anniversary trip?

  1. Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii!! My husband and I went for our 20th Anniversary...and we've been back four more times (five total). Four days on Oahu and four on Maui would be a good start (unless you have more time)...Oahu for Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head; Maui for the beaches and relaxing. Happy Anniversary and happy planning!!

  2. Call me Biased, but Hawaii would be a great choice! Kauai is very laid back and a beautiful place to be.
Oahu is a busier Island and the only Island on which you will see high rises (The other Islands have the rule/law that you can't build anything higher than a coconut palm tree).
If you go to the Big Island You can go see the red lava flow (careful if you are asthmatic).
What ever you decide - enjoy your trip!!

  3. They all look fabulous don't they? My husband and I took a trip to the Hawaii islands for our 5th anniversary and we've gone every year since. We've been on all the islands but Kauai has always felt like a second home to us! That said, I am itching to go to St Lucia! Good luck choosing - I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. Can't wait to see which you pick!
