painted and glazed side table

If you want to catch a glimpse and see what's inside my handbag,
head on over to A Glimpse Inside today.
I'm dumping my purse out and giving you an inside look!

A few weeks ago,
while I was doing a quick pop in to my local Deseret thrift shop,
I found these signs
and this table.

I wasn't in the market for a side table,
but when I pulled open the drawer I saw this.

Drexel Heritage has a history as well made, high quality furniture and for $15 I thought I would try taking my skills from my drab to fab furniture painting class and see if I could make something awesome at home.
In just a few hours, I transformed this side table from old Grandma, to hip and modern but still traditional.
I was quite pleased with the results.

I painted the whole thing with free paint from my favorite side of the road supplier.
Seriously, the paint is awesome top of the line brands, usually full containers.
I keep my eye open when I see a pallet of paint because there is usually at least a few gallons I can use.

Here are the legs
{the best part of this piece I think}
fully painted with two coats of my free paint.

I used my paint class technique and tried dark wax.
I really like how the dark wax pooled in all of the right spots.

I kept the original hardware and love how this piece turned out.

I'm thinking that since this piece didn't turn out half bad,
that I may keep my eyes peeled for more pieces.

What do you think?
Have you embraced the painted furniture trend?
