A little over two years ago my husband and I took on a full kitchen face lift. We had nice oak cabinets that just felt a little dated, so we looked into a few options and settled on painting them. All of our appliances were in good working order, but we wanted to update them all to stainless steel. And our countertops were a large tile that we traded out for slab granite. While we were getting it all done, we decided to have our floors refinished too. While I would like to say we are handy enough to do it on our own, we decided to contract all of it out and were quite pleased with the results and thankful that it took less than a week to get a total transformation!

We found a guy on Craigslist that paints the cabinets and puts on a glaze finish. We also updated the cabinet doors and chose an internal hinge with a soft close. You can't slam our cabinet doors shut if you tried! We also installed cabinet drawer pulls and knobs. He did a mock up of one of the cabinet doors to show us before doing the whole kitchen.
whoa! what a difference the painted cabinets and new counter tops make! stunning kitchen :) i am way jealous of your stainless steel appliances, too.
ReplyDeleteand i've heard of friends being kitchen-less for WEEKS during renovation so the fact that yours got done in just one week is awesome.
Love the new look. Way to be smart about the updates! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful makeover! So fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou found him on Craigslist??? I would have never thought of that. We redo a ton of kitchen cabinets for my business.... but don't replace them or do the fancy hinges! Hahaha! It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteStop by my painting blog and say hello sometime!
I love it!! It looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Love it! We are revamping our kitchen this weekend and I think it may look just like yours! We are wanting to do cream cabs with a glaze, venetian gold granite (in 2 wks), undermount sink (do you like your style sink?), and wall color! Can you give me the details of your cab color and walls and if you love sink? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation.... I adore creamy white cabinets & the granite is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the creamy white paint you used on your cabinets. It looks gorgeous with the granite!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Make it Yours Day!
Sarah, we do love the undermount sink. It is so easy to take care of. The granite is actually giallo santa cilia, but I do remember going back and forth between venetian gold. Good luck with your redo!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I can't remember, we put the color on the walls nearly 7 years ago. I'm guessing they don't have it anymore. Some shade of khaki...it's a behr paint from home depot.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am a sucker for white cabinets and an undermount sink. You had me at both of those!! The whole thing turned out fabulous. I love the idea of your double stove too. WOW! Thanks for sharing at 'Look at me, I'm SO Crafty!' at Fun to Craft!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it! About how much did the cabinets cost? We are moving into a new home with blah cabinets and Hubs is giving me a $2500 budget.
